What I Wish My School Knew

By Sofiia Onopriienko Thinking back on the end of the school year, I am writing this letter inspired by the way my school, Lakefield College School, creates not just the learning space but the atmosphere of a united community, regardless of how many miles away we are from each other. I also want to share how much studying remotely has helped me, not only during the spring, but back in December, when I was away for over a month while trying to combine my passion and my education, and do my absolute best in both fields. This letter is an expression of my gratitude. I want you to know that studying online is not a burden for us, the students. I see it rather as a gift to those of us who are provided additional time to devote to our passions, and for those of us who feel discomfort, as it is truly an opportunity for growth. A Very Lakefield Goodbye

By Iain Beaumont, LCS Associate Faculty Member "I can’t pick a single memory. I love Lakefield. Everyone is so kind, and really cares about you here." These are the words from just one of the 20 students who have spent the year at Lakefield, and will not be returning next school year. Tonight, this group of students and a handful of their teachers and residential staff (handpicked by the students themselves) gathered at the Head of School’s house for a goodbye celebration dinner. The room in which we all gathered buzzed with excitement, positive energy and a modicum of sadness, as teachers and students alike reflected on the past year and what was in store for the future. LCS Chapel Talks: Sharing Life’s Defining Moments

By Lorraine Brown, Director of Spiritual Wellness and Diversity This is my second year in the newly created role of Director of Spiritual Wellness and Diversity. If you were to ask our students who I am you might hear, “She’s the Chapel Lady,” or “She teaches AP Lit,” or “She says good morning to us in Chapel.” All of those statements are true. I am in Chapel each morning and I greet our community as they enter and exit the Chapel. I coordinate the programming of chapel and I also teach English courses as well as Spanish. I love our chapel, I have since I started working at LCS in 2003. It is a sacred space. You can feel how different it is from the other spaces in our community.
