We are pleased to welcome Kohl Kuntz, in a new role as Lead Farmer for Lakefield College School. Kohl is joining our community to help create (and maintain) a ½ acre vegetable garden at our Northcote Campus. At LCS, we are committed to inspiring students to become leaders who care, connect, and contribute – in their community and more broadly, to the environment by creating a school garden on our campus.  Ultimately, our goal is to provide food directly to our Dining Hall with the hope that our students will learn to connect nature and environmental stewardship practices to food production and regenerative principles. A smooth transition from elementary to secondary school is a peaceful transition for the student, their family, and the other people involved in the child’s life. After two atypical school years that included a combination of virtual, in-person, and hybrid learning, accompanied by stressful world events, many students face increased worry about transitioning from Grade 8 to Grade 9. In order to foster student success at the academic and social levels, Lakefield College School is offering Grove Prep for Grade 9.  What is Grove Prep for Grade 9? Grove Prep for Grade 9 is intended for students entering Grade 9 in an Ontario secondary school. This five-day intensive program will help prepare students for high school, both academically and socially by exposing them to key course material and immersing them in hands-on, outdoor activities on our beautiful 155-acre, waterfront campus. The Benefits of Outdoor Learning at LCS – Learning English and French in the Outdoors

Lakefield College School's Learning Languages through the Outdoors program offers students a unique opportunity to earn a credit in four weeks and improve their English or French language proficiency while enjoying the benefits of a Canadian summer outdoor experience.  What to Expect When students arrive at LCS, they will be immersed in English or French, applying their new vocabulary and skills in outdoor classrooms and activities as they paddle, camp, build fires, identify native plants and animals, and much more. Our courses include daily classes, with Grammar Workshops led by LCS English Language Learning (ELL) and French as a Second Language (FSL) Teachers plus unique Outdoor Education Study Hall sessions led by wilderness guides and outdoor educators.
