Jeronimo’s LCS Experience | #WeAreLakefield

This interview is part of a series, called “We Are Lakefield” — inspired by a phrase you’ll often hear our students and Head of School (Ms. Kee) say with pride (followed by “We got this.”) when community spirit and strength are needed to power through a uniquely challenging time, event, or activity. In this series, you’ll hear personal reflections from our students that provide valuable insight into what it means to be a part of the LCS community.

This week, we spoke with one of our Grade 10 Grade Representatives, Jero ’25 to learn more about his experience at Lakefield College School. In this article, Jero speaks about his initial attraction to the school, his first impressions, what made him feel at home, and more!

A Warm Welcome from the LCS Community

“I first learned about Lakefield thanks to a close friend of mine who was planning to attend in the coming year. Both of us were interested in the idea of attending a boarding school and LCS looked like a great option. What stood out for me among the other options was the campus, especially Lake Katchewanooka. Living on a lakeside property while you study and play your favourite sports with friends is something you dream about doing.”

Quickly Adjusting to Life at LCS

“I adjusted to life at Lakefield very quickly. My first day was spent meeting a lot of friendly people, one of whom became one of my closest friends as well as walking through the most beautiful campus.”

The Unique and Inclusive LCS Community

“The people at LCS are different, but not in a bad way. They are always nice and kind. No matter where you are from or what you look like, they all treat you nicely. Receiving this treatment the day you arrive at your new home for the next 10 months felt nice and I still happily remember the opening day.”

Exploring New Interests

“Lakefield has a great selection of really cool programs. I discovered an interest in theatre. I realized that I liked being part of a community that works hard for two to three months to present a masterpiece to the rest of the community. I was influenced by the great selection of performing art teachers and by the ability to have a great production that makes the musicals and plays look professional.”

Learning to Lead and Collaborate

“Although I am not sure what career path I want to pursue, LCS has taught me to be a leader and to work in collaboration with everyone on everything. I’ve learned to work with people from around the world who not only make learning fun but also teach you about their cultures and ideologies.”

#WeAreLakefield

“I would say that Lakefield is a school for anyone especially those who want to have fun and meet people who help you grow. At Lakefield, you live in a community that welcomes you and helps you be your best self.
